A Prayer for Trials

A Prayer for Trials

The Circumstance:

The most difficult thing to understand about any trial, bad news, or an uncertainty that we find ourselves in is to understand that we have a choice as to how we look at it. We can choose to be bitter, discontent, even selfish, or we can accept the fact that in everything we are to give thanks and praise to Almighty God. The Apostle Paul said that he had learned how to be content in whatever circumstance he was in. That doesn’t mean you have to like it, but it does mean you should acknowledge that God will not give you more than you can handle. God tells us HE will use all things together for good to those who love him and are called according to HIS purpose (Rom 8:28).

In other words, God has a big outcome for the trial that you are facing. He allows you to go through certain things for any number of reasons, but it is always to bring HIM glory. So, if you can see the mindset of God and adopt it through the trial, then God’s will is done and HE is glorified. But for our profit God Disciplines us that we may be Partakers of His holiness. (Heb 12:10) (you have been selected). I understand, that is the hardest part because you feel alone, scared, even angry at the circumstance you are in, however, and unfortunately, you are in this circumstance.

So, it is your choice, what do you do now? I suggest you try reading, praying, crying out to God through this prayer for 30 days every day in the morning!

Therefore, I count it all joy my brethren when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience (endurance) – [“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will (Heb 10:35-36 NLT)] and let patience (endurance) have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4) We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us–they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love (Rom 5:3-5, NLT). There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary–we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit! Rom 3-5, MSG

Therefore, we do not lose heart, though our outward man is perishing (decaying, dying, wasting away); our inward man (our spirit) is being renewed day by day (this is where our strength comes from) (2 Cor 4:16, NKJV). The NLT says it this way, “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” Our Inner Being is being renewed day by day – WOW! Almighty God is providing the very strength you need to make it through this, to endure it and come out of it better because you experienced God’s holiness.

With that being said, we do need to understand there is an enemy and that enemy wants to kill us, destroy us, and make our life a living hell for the word says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual wickedness in the heavenly realms.”(Eph 6:12) But, the good news is and there is always good news is you look hard enough for it, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”  This battle, this trial is being fought in the supernatural so it is a battle you cannot win in the flesh. You must rely on the Lord.

Going through the trial (the hardest part)

So seek him with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. I seek you first, your kingdom, your righteousness and then I know that everything will be added unto me. Be bold in your request because the word says in Hebrews and Philippians, “Therefore, let us come boldly into the Throne room of grace to obtain mercy to find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Heb 4:16) And when we look at God’s mercy, it is hard to not be overwhelmed and grateful that our God is a great God, He showers us in HIS mercy as it says in Lamentations: “Through the Lord’s mercy we are not consumed because his compassions fail not, HIS mercies are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness!” (Lam 3:22,23) So as you enter HIS courts with Thanksgiving in your heart, praise HIM that HE is allowing you to drawer near to HIM, because “greater is He who is in you, than he that it in the world.”

“Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, so that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6,7). In the Amplified, it says to not fret or have anxiety about anything” so a good strategy would be to let go, let God take over! For the word of God says, to “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened unto you, for anyone who asks receives, everyone who seeks, finds and to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened” (Mt 7:7,8). And if that isn’t enough, look what HE says in 1 John: “Now, this the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us, and if (since) we know that He hears us, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 Jn 5:14,15).

So, armed with that fresh assurance that God is listening to your pleas and cries for help, listen to how he tells us to get ready to endure and to fight the battle so that we are successful in it. “Put on the whole armor of God (every day) that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Finally brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Eph 6:10-11).

Now, that you are preparing to be victorious in the battle and the trial by putting on the armor of God, the Lord tells us to wait. You are probably not ready yet. He gives us the instructions in Isaiah.  “But, those who wait on the Lord shall (will) renew their strength, they shall (will) mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary they shall (will) walk and not be faint.”(Is 40:31) While I am waiting and trusting in the Lord, he wants me to be totally dependent on him. “So, do not throw away our confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!” (Heb 10:35 NLT) For God is our Refuge and Strength (mighty and impenetrable to temptation) a very present help in the time of trouble (Ps 46:1 Amp). And how could we not trust in HIM? Our God is a great God, and HIS mercy alone gives us the grace to find help. Come to HIM, cry out to HIM, rely on HIM and HIM alone and HE will give you rest for your soul.

This really becomes an issue of our faith, and who are we going to trust in this trial? Do we trust ourselves, another human being or entity, or God?  Scripture says, “For it is impossible to please God without faith, because anyone who comes to HIM must believe that HE exists and that HE rewards those who diligently seek HIM.” (Heb 11:6 NLT)

More good news, and although it may not feel like it, the trial or suffering you are experiencing will have its end. So, as you are bold in your request, be bold in your thinking, look how you can benefit from this experience, look how it is molding, shaping, making you are what you are to become, your destiny is being fulfilled. “While we do not look at the things which are seen but the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen are temporary, and the things that are not seen are eternal” (2 Cor 4:16-18). God’s solutions lie here. God will reveal the mysteries and secrets to you that are hidden in the darkness. “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him” (Dan 2:22, NASB). “But, the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law” (Duet 29:29). “And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches” (Is 45:3). “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show the great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jer 33:3)

Behold the Victory!

If (since) any of lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given unto him (James 2:5). “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers”(1 Pet 3:12). “Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my (elders, leaders, brothers) hands. For God has not given you a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and sound mind. (2 Tim 1:6,7) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but are mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor 10: 3,4). What is your stronghold holding you back from breakthrough?

Tell that mountain to move and believe it is moved for the Lord says in Mark that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can tell the mountain to move from here to there and it will move. You do have the faith of a mustard seed, you believe you are saved right? Then tell that mountain to move right now in Jesus name and begin your assault on the Promised Land because God will only help you when you take the first step.

“Yet because you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hands. For the Lord goes to and fro throughout the whole earth looking to show himself strong to those who hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chron 16:8b,9) for nothing is impossible with God, for with God ALL things are possible. You notice how HE doesn’t say some things? That is what I love about our Lord, just as you are either for HIM or against HIM, HE is either all for you or still waiting to show himself strong to you. Take advantage of the fact GOD wants to help you in your time of need and declare victory right now in Jesus name!

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all of the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall hurt you” (LK 10:19 NKJV). “Now to him who is able to do SUPERABUNDANTLY above and beyond anything we can ask, dream about, or even imagine.” (Eph 3:20 NLT)  “Now, thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and in us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place, for we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and amongst those who are perishing” (2 Cor 2:14,15). Be a Witness, remember, people are watching you as you go through your trial. I am more than a Conqueror in Christ Jesus!
